Democrats used to believe in God and patriotism. Does the Democratic Party still exist other than in name only?

I don't know why you feel that way but I hear many Conservative people do. Recently, I asked questions regarding separation of Church and State because I personally don't recognize the God on the Religious Right as the one I grew up with. I am independent. But most Conservatives here think I am a Democrat. My best friends are Democrat and go to the Same Presbyterian Church I do. I am sure Jesus is in our House of God. I am confused about Patriotism. I love God and I love where I live, but I am starting to feel very manipulated by these sentiments. My Democrat Friends are very Patriotic. I live in the Midwest.
