French film recommendations?

Hmmm.. I Was Born, But got to it before me. My favorite French film is L’année dernière à Marienbad (Last Year at Marienbad - 1961) by Alain Resnais. If you really want to watch something incredible, go for it, but it may be hard to explain to the cl or even understand (adult film scholars study this film, I certainly don't understand it fully either). Maybe try À bout de souffle (Breathless - 1960) by Jean-Luc Godard, Une femme est une femme (A woman is a woman - 1961) Also by Godard.. Both of those are really fun. Les quarte cents Coups (The 400 Blows - 1959) by Francois Truffaut is probably the most (or one of the most) famous French film of all time. All the recommendations on this page are great-- The Diving Bell and the erfly if you want something newer, Irreversible as well (all though your teacher may not appreciate you reporting the subject material to the cl).
